Football Crazy: The Theatre Of Nightmares On The Road To Insanity, part of the CD Comics Surreal Murder Mystery Series, is certainly a different type of comic, and a world away from the mainstream. Whether you have an interest in the beautiful game or not, there’s enough there to keep anyone hooked, and the fantastically off-the-wall pay off makes for an amusingly different ending to this sort of tale, poking fun at the numerous, seemingly massed produced crime dramas that tend to flood the TV schedules. Once again Jim Rosenthal’s stellar FA Cup draws get sent up in hilarious style, along with regional news programme, Look North, which pretty much hits the nail on the head. With these quirks adding to an overall brilliant story, you really are missing out on some genius story telling if you don’t give Football Crazy a go.

Horror Cult Films

Daley’s unique, dry wit is the highlight of his writing. He may write great stories, but when it comes to the closing pages, there’s no one else to compare. CD Comics output has been nothing but a treat to read, with Meadowhell being no exception. Another cult gem.

I never guessed what was really going on, when I found out I was surprised, very clever once again and going back you can see a ridiculous amount of clues littering the comic which unless you are insane you would just never pick up on.

Comic Bastards Review
It’s rare that a comic completely catches me off guard, usually there’s some semblance of what’s going on before the surprise. With this series though, I was caught off guard completely when I read it, so much so that I leaned back in my chair and was like, “Damn… you got me.” I’m going to remain as spoiler free when describing the details about story and unfortunately that means not telling you what “got me”.

Local sales on CDrom with multiple issue comics put together as Graphic Novels, priced £2.50 and packaged in slim line DVD cases are now way behind Internet sales.

The most popular title locally has been Meadowhell, selling 130+ CDrom Graphic Novels, with Spring Heeled Jack, packaged locally as 'The Attercliffe Prowler' coming a close second... While on the Internet Manhattan 1930 is selling best and this could be the US or possible the Nikola Tesla and Aleister Crowley influence.

Football Comic Strip

CDComics ‘Football Crazy: The Theatre of Nightmares on the Road to Insanity’ is the third of the Surreal Murder Mystery Series written and illustrated by Craig Daley.

The story follows a lower league clubs' F.A Cup run with games against top Premier League teams, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs, and is set against the backdrop of a police investigation into the gruesome murder of one of the lower league players, but I’ll let some independent reviewers fill in the details...

“Daley's crafted a story that feels like an episode of television crime drama. It read and felt very much like an episode of BBC's Luther, the acclaimed detective drama. The way the story unfolds makes it difficult to predict. It's not one where halfway through you know who did it, why they did it and how. It's only at the end that everything comes together and Daley even uses character expository for the purpose of tying it all up in a neat little package.”
